  • $1.4 million verdict in Essex County Haverhill District Court (Haverhill, MA) for a young man who was injured when a stool collapsed at a restaurant.  It was necessary to use experts in the field of medicine, economics, and vocational rehabilitation to prove the damages suffered by this client.

  • $750,000.00 verdict in Newburyport Superior Court for a woman injured in an auto collision. The insurance company offered $75,000.00 to settle, one-tenth of the ultimate verdict. That offer was refused and we went to trial. With interest the verdict exceeded $1,000,000.00.

  • $1 million verdict in Essex County Superior Court (Lawrence, MA) for a wife who was beaten and stabbed by her husband, leaving her with significant permanent injuries.

  • $220,000 verdict in Essex County Superior Court (Lawrence, MA) for a young man with aspirations to become a plumber.  His vehicle was rear-ended and he sustained soft tissue injuries to his back.  His medical bills were approximately $7,000, including $5,000 for chiropractic care.  High damages were obtained by showing that he could no longer pursue his profession and, as a result, his lifetime earnings would be reduced.  This case shows how a seemingly minor injury can have a long lasting impact on an individual.  The proper use of a vocational expert was necessary to demonstrate to the jury the economic impact to the client over his lifespan.

  • $210,000 verdict in Suffolk County Superior Court (Boston MA) for a young man injured by security guards in a bar.  The bar employees were responding to an altercation not provoked by the client and in the course of maintaining order broke his leg.

  • A finding of negligence and gross negligence in Essex County Superior Court (Lawrence, MA) against a city for its role in the death of a young man who committed suicide in the city lock-up, shortly after being arrested.  This case was controversial because of the nature of the death.  It brought to light the fact that a significant number of people are at risk for suicide immediately after arrest.  The case prompted significant publicity and soon thereafter a law was enacted to mandate safeguards to prevent suicide in lock-ups.
